Sweeter Live [Blu-ray]

I heart Gavin
I love Gavin Degraw. I saw this tour live and I love he made a concert version. Just keep in mind he talks between each song...for a few minutes.

No Surround sound?
C'mon Gavin. Give us 5.1. Performance is great but is only in Stereo. Picture quality is good. Not a great live BR

The Goode Family: The Complete Series

Even Gooder Than Remembered
I am a TV on DVD reviewer who received an advance copy of this set. This review IS based on that set.

This review may get my home pelted with cage-free organic eggs, but watching Shout Factory's complete series DVD set, which is being released on January 8, 2013, of the 13-episode 2009 animated comedy "The Goode Family" prompted anger that the series did not last longer. A Christmas wish is that it be revived in the same manner as "Family Guy" and "Futurama."

I do not intend to offend anyone but wish to communicate both that "Goode" is an excellent show and that my personal experiences show that that series expertly lampoons a very influential segment of the American population.

Mike Judge, who brought us the cult classic film "Office Space" and the anti-"Goode Family" hit series "King of the Hill," produced this show about fanatically liberal and progressive couple Gerald and Helen Goode. These folks make Green Party members seem like Tea...

The Goode Family a forgotten classic!
It is too bad this show didn't have a longer run on prime time broadcast. This show had a lot in common with the much longer running King of the Hill. The humor and animation were similar in tone and appearance. This short lived series shows a flip side to the more down-home theme of King of the Hill. The Goode Family depicted a more liberal, super-environmentally conscious family. The Goode Family was to the liberal side, as King of the Hill was to the conservative side. In both series, the viewer of opposing viewpoints can find plenty to laugh at, and anyone with a fair sense of humor on either side can understand the satire and see plenty of honest introspection within the extremes of whatever side their on. The Goode Family was not preachy even as it addressed what many would consider to be liberal topics and concerns. I wish the series would have lasted longer!
I would think that anyone who enjoyed King of the Hill would enjoy The Goode Family as well!

A short-lived TV series from Mike Judge is finally available.
Never shown in its entirety (not all the episodes from the only season were broadcast), this friendly skewering of hippies, tree huggers, vegans, liberals and others on the left side of the political spectrum by the creator of BEAVIS & BUTTHEAD, KING OF THE HILL, OFFICE SPACE and IDIOCRACY is funny yet thoughtful and never really mean to those it makes fun of. The voice talent is top notch and there are some parts that will make you laugh out loud, whether you are a commie pinko or proto-Fascist. Highly recommended.

Nova: Mystery of Easter Island

Experimental Archaeology and the Moai of Easter Island
This NOVA episode is about the moai ("giant head" statues) of Rapa Nui. The documentary examines who created the statues, and how they were made, but focuses more on how the huge monuments were transported from where they were carved to where they stand today. Previous hypotheses involved dragging them on sleds or rolling them on logs, but some contemporary archaeologists give credence to oral traditions, which say the moai "walked" to their destinations. The film crew follows a team of scientists as they create a realistic replica of a typical moai, and attempt to use ropes and muscle to "walk" it down a primitive road.

This episode also explores the mystery of what happened to the original inhabitants of Rapa Nui. Archaeologists discuss the evidence of severe environmental degradation and ensuing hostilities, but they discredit the overly-simplistic myth of self-destruction through "ecocide." The commonly-held notion that cutting down all the trees ruined the island--and...

Good Portrayal of What Happened on Easter Island
This represents a good overview of what happened on Easter Island. It also illustrates good archaeology and how method of the field can be used to gain insights.

Most interesting but not a lot of Easter Island!
This is a short doco filmed in Hawaii about how the Easter Island Moais might have been moved. Having visited Easter Island several times I was very interested in the subject matter and was glad to see this disc. It is however very short, and has almost no Easter Island content at all. An excellent rent but overpriced and the Hawaiian experiment made the title a little misleading.

Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!: Best Of Widget

He's Not Just a Sidekick!
My kids are huge fans of Wow Wow Wubbzy so they were super excited to watch The Best of Widget! I am also a fan because this is one of my secret weapon shows! By that I mean that when I need to get something done without my kids distracting me, I can put on Wow Wow Wubbzy and they are glued to the TV!

The Best of Widget is exactly that; the episodes with Widget at his finest! Now while Widget is the star of this DVD, Wubbzy still gets his screen time! They are just episodes where it's centered around Widget so never fear Wubbzy fans; he will still be a star!

The Best of Widget is a collection of 7 episodes (one is a bonus) and includes the additional bonus features: coloring and activity sheets and music videos. The total run time is 70 minutes which is perfect for the attention span of my three and four year olds. They are broken up into the individual episodes which are only about ten minutes each so that's nice if you need to interrupt to break for meals,...

Episode Listing
This DVD contains seven episodes from the Wow! Wow! Wubbzy! cartoon. Amazon doesn't always do a good job on their DVD episode listings so here are the episodes that are included on this DVD:

1. Widget's Wild Ride
2. Gotta Dance
3. Gidget Super Robot
4. Eggs Over Easy
5. Widget Gets The Blooey Blues
6. The Super Fixers
7. Where's My Wiggle Wrench?

Widget gets time to shine
Does your kid love Widget? This is the DVD for you!
This DVD has the fan favorite episodes starring Widget. In these episodes she learns how to dance, that she doesn't need to have a lucky item to be her best & how to deal with a sad day. Widget shows girls how to be enthusiastic about what they love to do and that they don't have to be the girliest girl around. Yet she still wants to be a ballerina. A good addition to any children's library.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars Return of Darth Maul

Great episodes, a few questionable editing choices
The last four episodes of The Clone Wars Season 4 were definitely a highlight for the series. With the return of Darth Maul, there was a lot of tension. This set presents all four as an 88-minute movie and overall I really enjoyed seeing the episodes in this format. While I found most of the editing choices to be wonderful, a few cuts felt like they undermined the tension.

First, the episodes don't play in the same order they aired. In fact, this is very much an edited directors cut with portions of some episodes played out of order. For example, the entire movie starts with the scene from "Brothers" in which Savage Opress leaves Coruscant as he takes off to find Maul. Then we get the Nightsister episode Massacre, almost exactly as it originally aired. Then we get the rest of "Brothers" - well, almost. Then comes "Bounty", again almost exactly as aired. Finally, the movie ends with "Revenge".

On the one hand, I like the editing in that it frames the entire four...

Revenge... Let's Start There!
Darth Maul Returns to the Star Wars Universe in this movie version of 4 Season 4 Clone Wars episodes. The movie is (IMHO) very weel put together and paced. I actually missed the episode where Ventress became a Bounty Hunter so it was nice to see that tale. There is alot going on in this story and some very cool questions come to mind (but I'll let you see that unfold yourselves).

I do hope that Lucasfilms will release a movie version ( as there was a limited theatrical release of these episodes) of the fallout between Ventress & Dooku leading to Savage's Introduction. I feel that would have been a great lead up to this DVD movie.

My biggest recommendation though, get this at Target. They are selling it for 9.00, but get it!!!

Good Episodes for a Budget release
This DVD is Available now at Traget Stores across the nation, no need to pay scalper prices online. If you cant wait for the entire season 4 set that will be out on 10/23/12, then I guess you can get this now, or wait until 1/8/13 when this will hit the mass market if you dont live close to a Target store.

Fury - The Tribute Collection - 23 Episodes

Great TV Show
I have purchased the other "Fury" titles on Amazon but those other dvd's only had a few episodes on them. At least this release has 23 episodes--the picture quality and audio are satisfying but not great in my opinion----I do not think that the episodes have been remastered. My only other beef with this release is the marketing-----why do they call these episodes the "Lost Episodes"?--they are not lost, they have just not been put on dvd before. And I think all these episodes are from Season 1(1955)---why don't they just say Season 1? And the front cover of the dvd package bothers me as well. The picture is of Peter Graves, William Fawcett, and that is not Joey in the picture---that's his friend Packy---why is he on this front cover? All of my dvd in this package work fine except for disc #2---the "play all" selection did not work--it would return back to the main menu all the time----but you can click on the individual episodes and they work fine. But I do commend Mill Creek...

Fury-The Lost Episodes
I have read the other reviews and although I do agree with some of the negative comments, I am giving this set a 5 star rating.

This set is the first season of Fury and it contains all of the episodes except for three (Timber, Wonder Horse, and Pirate Treasure). The episodes are in order of the original air date. All episodes have the complete beginning and ending theme music for season one. I think the quality is excellent, but that is subjective.

To address some of the negative comments:

1)I emailed Mill Creek and asked why they put the same ending credits on all of the episodes and their answer was that they could only find one episode that contained an end credit that was in good enough condition to include on the set.

2)Yes, Mill Creek messed up and put a picture of Jimmy Baird (PeeWee) on the box front, but Bobby Diamond's picture is on the back and on all of the DVDs.

It's nice that the DVDs are manufactured using metal,...

A Home for the Outcast and the Throwaway
"Fury" is more than just a simple story of a special relationship between a boy and his horse. It touches upon themes of redemption in very real ways. Joey is an orphan boy, whose rage at having nobody to love him, almost lands him in juvenile corrections. Fury is a maverick and wild black stallion who no one but Joey eventually can reach. Jim Newton is a heartbroken widower who believes Joey could fill the gaps in his life, depleted by the untimely deaths of his wife and son in a car accident. This program relates through different episodes of a relationship forged by a boy , a horse and a man seeking to recapture purpose in life that is never contrived and upholds the reality of virtue, trust and self sacrifice- qualities which are not emphasized enough in today's society. "Fury" returns baby boomer viewers to a time where wholesomeness dictated programming.

Age Old Friends

It doesn't get any better
Pair the late Vince Gardenia and Hume Cronyn and you know what to expect. I don't know how many times I've watched this and delight in it anew each time I view it. A gem.

Great Movie!!
This is a great movie starring the late great Hume Cromyn. It's a must see!!

Be prepared to be sad
The acting is superb and the issues presented are compelling. However, this is very depressing, despite the attempt at a positive ending. Admittedly, their residence is pretty posh and they are well cared for by staff, so this is not about the horrors of a nursing home. It is about the sadness of growning old, having friends die, trying to placate family, and doing the best to "keep a stiff upper lip." I think good viewers for this film would be the children of an elderly person and really tough old people.

Indulgent Escape
I am a fan of some of the Real Housewives franchises. I love Real Housewives of New Jersey, Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, and Real Housewives of Miami. The Miami girls are so out there is it hilarious, they are a bunch of rich, spoiled, spirited women. I absolutely HATE karent, from her overly plastic surgeried Michael Jackson nose to her incredlbly fake teeth, body, and personality. All the Miami girls do is gossip, shop, drink, and get cometic procedures done. What's not to love? I am not looking for great literary content in the Real Housewives of Miami. These shows are an indulgent escape into a world that I will never be a part of, a weekly trip to Miami where I can truly relax and escape to my tropical getaway in my mind!

Much Better After Its Makeover
The Miami Housewives are back, although the majority are not actually married, and are much more entertaining this time around. Lots of drama, new colorful characters, and a background of the homes and haunts of the rich and famous make this a fun show. I just wish Amazon would keep up with the show for those of us who like to watch it via Amazon and skip the commercials...Episode 3 aired three days ago and it's still not up here for purchase.

Love It
Absolutely adore these housewives, and this season. SO much better than season 1... and they use their words (ha)! Nice to see ladies that although lose control sometimes, aren't always screaming at each other (like Atlanta). This season and Housewives of Beverly Hills are by far my two favorite franchises.

Best of BabyFirst - An Educational Adventure

Perfect and much cheaper than cable
We don't really watch TV in our household (we don't really have time, and prefer netflix when we do), but when we found out how obsessed our baby is with the Baby First Channel, it was extremely hard to cancel the cable (though we really couldn't afford it). So, when I found this DVD for a reasonable deal, that comes with MULTIPLE Baby 1st shows, not just one, like the other $20 DVDs, I jumped on it. It doesn't have squeak or the acorn people, but it has enough to keep her entertained :)

Wish you could decide what they put on these DVDs
This has the same episodes from their cable channel. Some of it my son loves and some he could care less about. He's not interested in watching someone read a story at age 2, so it would be better if it kept his attention for the whole show with the animation, music, etc.

Nice dvd very educational
It is a really educational dvd for my baby she loves it! she does not wants to move from the TV and is learning really fast! I love it...planning to buy some more

An Uncharacteristic HBO Dramedy That Features One Of TV's Most Complex And Underrated Performances
One of the lowest rated programs on HBO's 2011 roster, "Enlightened" (created by stars Mike White and Laura Dern) was both fascinatingly unpredictable and practically impossible to describe succinctly. It's closest cousins are probably the Showtime line-up of wacky female-centric comedies--such as Nurse Jackie, The Big C, Weeds, and United States of Tara. But that comparison is mostly about tone and viewpoint as "Enlightened" has a distinctly unique voice that is unlike anything else on the TV landscape. Some episodes play rather seriously, others highlight slapstick mayhem, while others are incisive and filled with awkward humor. Is it a comedy? Certainly. Is it dramatic? You bet. Is it one of the most pointed character studies on TV? Absolutely, and this, more than anything else, is "Enlightened" strongest asset. Spiritual enlightenment and striving to create a more perfect world are usually topics handled with a startling lack of subtlety in comedy. They are almost always the...

Quiet and Beautiful Desperation
I randomly caught the first few minutes of this show when switching between channels and it immediately dawned on me to set up my DVR for the season. I'm so happy I did, with a virtually perfect performance by Laura Dern, it seems apparent why she was so passionate about the show being made she produced it herself. The portrayal of a central character who, to me anyway, sends the viewer in between moments of complete admiration and love for the character to moments of complete horror and complete discomfort. Casting a character who causes such varied states of emotion in a view is risky at best, as evidenced by the lackluster ratings of the show, but Dern's much deserved Golden Globe win may give this understated and ultimately beautiful show the second chance it deserves. I'll sure as hell be there for season two.

Amazing series- this will blow you away
I LOVE this series- it's my hands down favorite show! It is written so well and the mood of the series is wonderful- I cannot wait for more.

BabyFirst Color Crew - All About Colors

Can take their eyes off the screen
The Color Crew is adorable!
We saw this show for the first time on NetFlix and thats when I realized I had to own it.
Although, throughout the entire show there is only one word said and the rest is music, because all 3 of my children have been diagnosed with autism, it has taught them their colors and expressions. They love it which makes me love it!

Guess Who's the Color of the Day!
My two year old just LOVES this. I'm not thrilled about the four chapters for finding color combinations (my son asks for combinations specifically and it's often hard to find them). I wish they sang the intro song before each episode as well, but only does so at the very beginning when you select "Play All". My son loves to sing along, so those are the only two con's I give it.

Simple learning and enjoyment for even younger then recommended.
Since 2 months old this has been my daughter's "busy time" video. She is amazed by the simplicity, colors, music and animation. I feel it is a great way to prep her for learning colors and shapes as well as aiding in her ability to track objects. She is alert when watching and even laughs when "Mr. Eraser" comes out and does his job. I have to admit I didn't buy this video. I found it on Netflix for free. Doesn't mean I can't give it a great review. I feel is it much better than Baby Mozart for the really little ones. Actually has some educational value.

Smash: Season One (DVD + UltraViolet)

Finally Glee with a Script and Great Acting
Best show I have seen in years. I did not expect to like it and by about 15 minutes into the first episode I was hooked. The songs are incredible, the storyline very engaging and a tremendous cast.

Smash is AWESOME (check here the list of episodes), but where's the BLU-RAY???
If you're here, you probably know that Smash is one of the best shows to appear on television in the last 20 years. Thank you, Theresa Rebeck, for creating it!

Great music, great characters (Derek is my favorite), everybody who loves New York and especially Broadway will have a BLAST watching every single episode. What could you expect, it also has Steven Spielberg as one of its executive producers!

I'm sure that thousands and thousands of americans and foreigners who love NYC will feel the same way. Am I right?

My god... and the original music of this show !?

I don't have words to describe how incredible and perfect they are, really, REALLY creative, songs AND lyrics, you have to watch Smash and listen to them yourself, if you still didn't do that!
(Don't waste any time, btw, you're gonna fall in love with the original music!)

The original songs were written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, these guys deserve no less than...

Are You Fascinated by Musicals/Theater?
If you love the world of musical theater, you may enjoy this smashing romp aptly titled SMASH. With a stellar cast including Deborah Messing, Katherine McPhee and Anjelica Huston with Spielberg producing it, there's talent invested in it.

The talent is trying to produce a Broadway Musical based on the iconic Marilyn Monroe. However, there are the usual challenges: inconvenient romances, slimy director, cast rivalry, insufficient financial backing, script rewriting etc. It is great fun to observe the creative process and the chaos surrounding it. Will they produce a smash hit? You want to keep watching to see if it will come together.

Mahler: Symphonies Nos.1-10 [Blu-ray]

state-of-the art HD recording
I purchased this blu ray box from "amazon.fr".(Kind understaning for my poor English would be highly appreciated.)

"Dreams come true!" By having this RCO Mahler blu ray box, we can enjoy full-scope of Gustav Mahler's universe of sound even in home-audio system. Frankly speaking, conventional CD format can't afford to reproduce Mahler's extraordinary wide range of dynamics. SACD(e.g. Chailly's RCO M3 by Decca, or Ivan Fischer's BFO M6 by Channel)could provide better presentation of Mahler's symphonies. And advance of blu ray technology can make Mahler's music presented as realistic as possible.(Abbado's Lucerne Festival & Chailly's Leipzig Mahler Festival)
RCO Mahler box is especially notable for its 24 bits/96 khz PCM & 96 khz DTS-HD MA audio format.

It is a little difficult to define "what is standard format of blu ray audio?" At this stage, average specification of up to now released classical music blu ray discs would be summarized as 24 bits/48 khz PCM &...

A welcome cost-effective antidote to the greed of some European labels!
First off, hats off to the RCO for producing their own complete set of Mahler symphonies plus Das Lied and Totenfeier, recorded over a seventeen month period, utilizing nine different conductors. Each work occupies its own disc (dvd or bluray), and this review is for the bluray. You can buy this set (11 discs) for $86 inc. shipping from 'import cds' in California.(this is cheaper than Amazon) Compare this - less than $8 per disc - to the $36 per disc charged by the Accentus label through Amazon for barely 60" of music! Well done!

Most of the reviews I've seen for this set seem to have been rushed out, and, because I have been guilty in the past of writing reviews after only one run-through, I have waited to do this one until I had listened to everything at least twice. Believe me - I grew fonder of several of these performances after a second audition. There's just too much in a Mahler symphony to assimilate critically in one sitting.

There seems to have been a...

Just a comment
Just want to add a short comment, these blu ray discs are locked to region B,you will encounter problems playing these discs if you own a region A (USA)Blu ray player.I own players for both region and it just will not play on any three of my region A players,it is until I tried them on Region B player, they played well without any problem.
Audio and interpretation of conductor is very good , picture quality is fine too.

Dinotopia & Journey to the Center of the Earth - Fantasy Double Feature

Two Fantasy Miniseries
It seems that lavish television mini-series is a thing of the past, except for the occasional western or period miniseries on cable. As a kid I look forward to watching them, normally airing during the sweep months on February or May. Mill Creek Entertainment has recently released the three-part Dinotopia and the two-part Journey to the Center of the Earth in a 2 disc set. Both miniseries were produced by Hallmark Entertainment (now known as Sonar Entertainment).

Dinotopia is based on the children books by James Gurney. It aired on the Wonderful World of Disney in 2002 and later spawned a short-lived spin-off series. The miniseries drops the books' steampunk atmosphere and focuses on two half-brothers, Karl and David Scott, who finds themselves stranded on the strange land of Dinotopia after their plane crashes into the sea with their father. They meet a mysterious man, Cyrus Crabb, who leads them to the capital of Dinotopia, Waterfall City. David wants to try and learn the...

Family-Oriented Fantasies
This two-disc set collects two different "Lost World"-type miniseries that are largely forgotten today. It's a shame they're forgotten because both of them are mostly fun, decently budgeted family-oriented entertainment of the type we just don't get much anymore. Kids like straightforward fantasy that doesn't simultaneously ridicule itself, and these films are long on earnestness and devoid of irony and sarcasm.

"Dinotopia" is the better of the two miniseries, and well-worth the modest asking price. It's a very gentle, benign story about two teenaged boys who find themselves trapped on an island where benevolent dinosaurs and humans have mutually crafted a peaceful utopia. The first of the three episodes is admittedly on the dull side due to an odd lack of suspense, but the second and third episodes are much, much better. The series uses a setting based on James Gurney's gorgeously illustrated 'Dinotopia' books, which is why they are strong on visuals and a fairly placid...

Good family movie
I loved dinotopia and so did my children. It was a great buy for a combo pack. Journey to the center of the earth was a bit slow for them, they didn't really get into it.

The Finishing Touch [HD]

At least I have an excuse to watch this
My husband has an interior design related business, and out of all the design shows on TV, this is the only one he is willing to watch with me at all. These people do quality work. Love them, hate them or think they are silly, their work is really good.
Watched all last season and I quickly caught up with Amazon when this season came out. Prefer the convenience of watching on my Kindle Fire.
Good design, lots of staged reality TV drama, and some voyeuristic peeking into the lifestyles of the rich and kind of famous. A perfect recipe.
My loyalties have shifted this season. Mary McDonald has replaced Martyn Lawrence Bullard as my favorite, she is definitely more approachable than last season, in both her design and reality TV schtick. But what's up with dropping Nathan Turner? Bring him back as more than a houseguest !!!!! His work is great!

Not entirely sure why, but I love this show
There is something about this show that is fun. Maybe it is seeing how much rich people spend to furnish their house, I'm not sure. This show is engaging in a way that Antiques Roadshow is -- you just cant believe that the little wooden rocker is worth $20,000!

Entertaining & Educational Look at Top Designers Working and Living
If you have enjoyed seeing the rooms of top designers Martyn Lawrence-Bullard, Kathryn Ireland, Jeffrey Alan Marks and Mary McDonald in magazines and books, then you should really love seeing them at work and at home in this series. The designers each have distinct styles and personalities which are on display here. It is intriguing to see how they interact with clients, their staff and artisans working on their projects. And it's fun to see how they relax at home.

The rooms they design are stunning, so it's instructive and fun to see how they start from zero and go to amazing. Season 2 is as good as Season 1, if not better. Love watching them travel and shop for clients or for One Kings Lane. It is fascinating seeing their design sensibilities at work.

I particularly enjoy having them explain their thought processes as they design and put a room together. Would love more on that if we have to sacrifice some of the drama at their homes with kids, staff etc...

Dance Moms: Season 2, Volume 2

Season 2...continued
The second half of season two has definitely more drama than the first half of season two, with Jill and Kendall transferring back to the Abby Lee Dance Company, Paige getting a broken foot, Maddie doing two solos at the same competition, a new mom named making tidal waves at the Abby Lee Dance Company, Kelly changing Paige's solo days before going to compete to make it more "technically difficult" in order to win a title, the drama just never seems to end. Keep a watchful eye out for more chaos, all on Dance Moms: Season 2 Volume 2.

Granddaughter's Addiction
My granddaughter is addicted to Dance Moms and now has me watching it. A great value product for the money.

Charlie's Dad Visits

tv series
Charlie Sheen is absolutely hilarious. He has his personal issues but he delivers on set all the time! He cracks me up!!!

BAD canned laughs
I like the show. I like the writing. I like the acting. It is pretty funny. But the laugh track is HORRIBLE. It ruins everything. Is it meant to be a BAD parody of a laugh track ? Whatever... it does not work for me. I am going to watch one more show. But if they don't knock it off I am OUT.

so glad that Charlie is back!
We loved Charlie on Two & !/2 Men,in spiteof himself. Now we have Charlie, but a more mature and intelligent version. Without the drunkenness. Still razor sharp wit and great comic timing. Now if we could just get Holland Taylor on Anger Management it would be great. Love seeing Martin Sheen on the show too.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century: Season Two

This release contains the TV MOVIE version of the Pilot--1st time EVER on DVD!!!
...just a heads-up, that BUCK ROGERS: Season 2 contains the NBC-TV MOVIE version of the Pilot, titled "Awakening" as a special extra/bonus on Disc #4--this is the FIRST TIME that this version of the Pilot has been commercially available (it wasn't included in the 2004 BUCK ROGERS: The Complete Epic Series DVD set). The TV MOVIE version of the Pilot runs roughly 9 minutes longer than the Theatrical version and contains at least two additional scenes with a different beginning and a different (more satisfying) ending. Fun stuff from back in the day... BUCK ROGERS!!!

Didn't need season 2
I purchased this along with the complete series set. I found out that the complete series included season 2 so I didn't need it. In fact the complete series was even cheaper. I don't like returning things so I kept it but I don't know why they just released season 2 if it was included on the full series box set. However I get both when they were promised will use Amazon for further purchases. I never any complaints and they are a great source to find those hard to find items.

Just Plain fun !
The second season of Buck Rogers found Buck and Wilma holding hands and going forth into the universe on a mission of exploration. I was never sure just what they were looking for, but the wisecracking relationship betweenthem changed to "good-buddy" kinda deal. Buck turned into an intelligent he-man leader, and Wilma turned into a beautiful, sexy, wishy-washy sort of girl-friend, who usually needed saving from herself in most episodes.
The second season wasn't as good as the first, but since I was, and still are an Erin Gray fan, I watched every episode. It was still fun.

Tiny Toon Adventures: Vol. 3 - Crazy Crew Rescues!

Tiny Toon Adventures Volume 3
I grew up watching the zany Tiny Toon Adventures. I bought the first two volumes when they were released to DVD, but Warner Bros. has been lazy in releasing the series. Back in August, they finally released Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation. I love the series, but the picture quality hasn't been the best, more or less like a VHS recording. I do hope that Warner Bros. listens to the fans and releases a remastered Volume 3.

According to the press release Volume 3 will have seventeen episodes on two discs.

Disc 1:

Episode 66 - Pledge Week (It's All Relatives; Lifeguard Lunacy; The Kite)

Episode 67 - Going Places (When You're Hot; That's Art Folks; Slaughterhouse Jive)

Episode 68 - Elephant Issues (Why Dizzy Can Read; C.L.I.D.E. and Prejudice; One Beer)

Episode 69 - Hog-Wild Hamton

Episode 70 - Playtime Toons (Happy Birthday...

They're Back, Toonsters !
Th-Th-Th-That's right, folks ! The next volume of "Tiny Toon Adventures" is here for all your cartoon cravings. This 2-disc set has 17 classic episodes starring those comic dispensers that crack up all the censors freely based on the Looney Tunes and these episodes are a bit more on topic with the chosen theme wraparounds. (At least compared to the previous volumes.) Here are some examples:

"Pledge Week" - Buster and Babs Bunny ("No relation.") host a "Tiny Toons Telethon" with very little results.
"Going Places" - Our crazy cast takes a field trip to the fire station, the art museum, and Montana Max's Merry Meats Company.
"Elephant Issues" - More like "relevant tissues" or something like that. Gogo Dodo, the craziest bird in Wackyland, takes a more serious approach to discuss common problems like Dizzy Devil's illiteracy, a new robot student, and the controversial "One Beer" episode.
"Hog Wild Hamton" - It's time to party, Hamton style ! Let's hope our...

THE BEST SHOW EVER!!!
I am #1 fan of this show so I'd love to say how absolutely brilliant Tiny Toons is. It is fantastic that Season 2 (& four episodes of season 3) is finally going to be released. Myself & my fiancé contacted Warner Bros. about the banned episode "Elephant Issues" to be included on the DVD and spread the word via our fan clubs & forums were other fans contacted WB themselves and it was decided to be included. I would love to see it hopefully remastered has it deserves the best. I give the show 10/10 and a definite recommendation to everyone.

mob doctor
im so pissed fox cancel this show. the only show on fox i watched. their crazy. without a doubt my favorite show

ACTION, SUSPENCE, AND EDGE OF YOUR SEAT VIEWING!
The pilot was very good. Things moved fast, not much time to get bored. There is alot of anticipation as to what will happen next, and what does happen is generally unexpected. This new series is quite a roller coaster ride and promises to be a first rate program. Takes place in Chicago, present day. A woman doctor's brother is in trouble with the local mob. The Dr. agrees to help the mob out by patching up Goodfellas, if they leave her brother alone. The brother is a bit of a looser, so we can expect alot more trouble in future episodes. However, things tend to get out of hand for the good doctor, both with the mob and with everyday situations at the hospital. Good stuff, well worth your time to check it out.

One of the best new shows.
Good Characters, Great Stories in a Great City. Good writing and lots of fun. 5 stars easily. To me i cant see how anyone would give it less than 4.

BabyFirst Sweet Dreams - Soothing Sights and Sounds

Good, but...
I like this dvd except for the sound between sections. It puts my son to sleep in the car, but if I have it just a tad too loud (and it's not loud at all) the scares him awake. So I keep it really, really low in volume and it's nice.

It's Great!!
My 2 year old niece loves Baby First tv channel. When she is at my house, that is all we watch,
unless we are watching movies!!

Sleepy Parents' Dream
I love this DVD! I discovered the program at my mother's house and my 4 mo. daughter really seemed to enjoy watching it--she would settle down and drift to sleep. My husband and I were planning a road trip, driving 12 hours to Alabama with my 3 yr old son and daughter. I paid for overnight shipping, hoping that my daughter would be able to watch this on a portable DVD and that it would be soothing; helping to make the journey nice at least some of the time. The DVD is 2 hrs of soothing images and music. It was a big hit. Not only would she watch it, but my son would watch it and fall asleep too. Best few bucks I could have spent. I wish an electronic version was available for my Kindle or iPAD. Thinking of buying an extra DVD for her overnight bag or to keep in the car.

Midsomer Murders, Set 21 [Blu-ray]

Macabre Midsomer
Midsomer County is oddly rife with peculiar mysteries and creative demises, but DCI John Barnaby is as gifted with powers of keen observation as his cousin, retired DCI Tom Barnaby. Sykes, John Barnaby's expressive dog, is also welcome! Neil Dudgeon, as the new DCI Barnaby, is an excellent addition to Midsomer, with his capacity for nuance; humor and seriousness shadow his countenance. The Barnabys are an old Midsomer family; in this verdant environment there are often recurring family resemblances (recall the funereal duo in first Midsomer mystery, "The Killings of Badger's Drift"). An amorous "look-alike" gardener was featured earlier in Midsomer, likely DCI John Barnaby is also good with plants. As always, the intrepid Jason Hughes is a wonderful foil as Detective Inspector Ben Jones, his wry humor adds another level of complexity to the series. The U.K. boasts many fine, underrated actors. Catch Dudgeon as a WWI vet/chauffeur in...

Set 21
My wife and I are huge fans of Midsomer Murders. We just watched all four episodes of Set 21 on Acorn Streaming. We were most unhappy with the "new" show. The new Barnaby seems aloof and has no sense of humor. It was sad to see Jones be his second in command. It would have been nice to see Jones move into the Barnaby role. He has the personality and could have carried it off. My personal choice would have seen the actor who played "Dangerous Davies" take over the lead role.

The stories were dull and uninteresting.

As an unwelcome parting shot; George the medical examiner anounced that he was retiring and that would be his last show. I used to purchase these sets on Amazon. I have them all. Sadly Set 20 was and will be my last purchase.

We miss our old friend John Nettles.

Is Midsomer becoming CSI?
Midsomer Murders used to provide a mystery to unravel at a slow, leisurely pace amid the lovely setting of an English village and its eccentric inhabitants. Murder was the propelling force for action, but the real focus was on characterization, personal interaction, the setting and the culture of the English village as interpreted in the series. In particular, the viewer normally faced with the carnage of popular movies and television could find respite with a cerebral journey as Barnaby and Jones unravelled the mystery of the day. Enter Season 21 of Midsomer and the gruesome visage of a dismembered body in Echoes of the Dead and giggling, invasive school girls in Death in the Slow Lane. Dark Secrets fared a little better but salacious elements, gratuitous sex and incest, occupied center stage too readily and too much. I have not viewed The Oblong Murders yet, so perhaps all is not lost if it contains some saving grace.

Ironically, the formidable acting skills of...

Elmo's Day Out [HD]

Not my favorite season.
I am a huge fan of Ina Garten and it is said for me not to give it five stars. Her recipes are always amazing and always work as long as you follow her guidance. The only reason why I am giving it three stars is I'm not fond of the new format. The show feels as though it has run out of ideas. My favorite show of the season was where she asked cooks what they make on their day off. Having watched Ina over the years I was rather surprised that she aired the Kimchi and rice segment. It was pretty clear that she didn't like the ingredient and when she tasted the rice it was clear to me that she didn't like it.

BabyFirst Harry the Bunny - Come Along and Play

Looks like a home video
The episodes on this video are fine, but the quality of the dvd isn't good. The color is really bright and looks like a home video or something. The coloring doesn't look at all like the show on TV.

fabulous
My grand daughter loves this program and Harry the Bunny. She dances and sings with Harry. I love watching her.

My toddler loves this. LOVES it.
Mr. Rogers was IT a month ago, and when those episodes no longer had their paralyzing power, I had a hard time finding something that wasn't sensory overload or too scary for his young age and optimistic disposition. (I never realized how terrifying Pixar was until watching as a new parent.)

Harry the Bunny is a nice, calm, very mildly-annoying (Nothing like Barney! There will be no nostalgia for that demon!) puppet, with oddly-man-sized hands and interesting things to talk about if you are two.

The episodes are cut up into four smaller sections within each one. So you can easily let him watch a literal "little bit" and see a complete storyline without committing to entire 22 minute segment. And the theme song, which is an ill-fitting uptempo anxiety-fest, is not nearly as frequent and not an accurate representation of how the sow will be. I do like the end-title for Baby First TV, though.

Also, note we're only watching the season from 2009 because...

Hour: Season Two

The Hour Back and Better Than Ever
The minute I saw the preview for season one in 2011 this show was on my radar as a 'Must See', and it did not disappoint. After the season ended, I immediately pre-ordered the DVDs and have watched them repeatedly.

This year The Hour has returned with season two, and I have to say it has only stepped up it's game (which was a TALL order to accomplish in my book seeing as how I adored season one). In my foray through the world of tv I have found time and again that it is a rare show indeed that only gets better with season two, and this show is one of those rare gems. There is a reason it has received critical acclaim.

The writing is done brilliantly by Abi Morgan (Shame, The Iron Lady). It never fails to grip me and draw me into the characters and the conflicts which they face. What impresses me the most is both the dynamic writing for all of the characters and the fact that the historical setting (this year being the Cold War) is never romanticized, but...

Six More Episodes: This Period Workplace Drama Gets Tough On Crime And Institutionalized Corruption
When the BBC period drama "The Hour" premiered on American TV last year, critics were quick to draw comparisons to AMC's "Mad Men." While both shows might appeal to the same adult demographic, however, I never really gave much credence to this categorization. In fact, the two shows have little in common aside from being period piece dramas bolstered by an easy social atmosphere of drinking and smoking. While there is plenty of workplace intrigue inherent in both shows, Season One of "The Hour" also mixed in a fair share of government espionage. It introduced us to the birth of a TV newsmagazine show called The Hour (how appropriate) as it struggled to find its footing. With the six new episodes of Season Two, The Hour is battling to remain relevant in an increasingly competitive TV market (a timely subject that never seems to go out of style). Principle story threads include a nefarious local business man, a honey pot scandal, police corruption, racial unrest, as well as unexpected...

Engrossing, though not quite as great as season 1
Season 2 of The Hour will appeal to anybody who liked season 1, though in some respects it's quite a different program. It's much more of a thriller than a mystery (after the first two episodes, anyway). It involves the culture of celebrity and domestic corruption much more than superpower politics. Most significantly, the plot has much more to do with Hector and Marnie Madden than Freddie and Bel. Oona Chaplin steals the show almost as much as Ben Whishaw and Anna Chancellor did in season 1, and Dominic West gets some great scenes playing off of her (his final scene with her in episode 6 is striking and memorable, and his best work so far in this program).

The ending of season 2 is much more tense and scary than anything in season 1. There's nothing in this season as inexplicable as the suicide of Thomas Kish in season 1. It holds together pretty well.

I can't discuss the weak points without giving away much of the plot. Suffice it to say that I would have had...

Archer: The Complete Season Three [Blu-ray]

Life is good again
All is good again in the Universe. Archer is back for season three and it picks up right where it left off. Yes, life is good again. He is truly everything the five year old in me wants to be.

The most sharks shot in the face
Yes. A tasty slab of Archer with a side of comedic heavyweights (David Cross is a snug fit). If there is a place in hell for writers who just piss away an amazing show after a couple of great seasons, these writers will be peeing off a cloud onto that place, and will probably eat some asparagus beforehand. I am a smiling slave to this show. Oh, and if you don't catch it all on the first go, you can trust that it will age well.

Archer
I was hooked from season 1. Still watch it over and over, there are so many little idioms and sayings you will find new gems each time you watch. I could not believe they had this on a non-premium channel. Not a series you could have a conversation about at the water cooler. But you will find yourself telling people to just watch. Season 1 amazing (watch Mole Hunt or Diversity Hire), Season 2 was lacking and picked up at the end (best episodes 2:3,2:8-9,2:11-12) (wondering if the Jon Benjamin has a van) series interfered with season 2 writing. Season 3 episodes 1-3 was good and redeemed it's self again. BTW if you can catch the Jon Benjamin has a Van, it's done quite well.

Sterling Malory Archer (H. Jon Benjamin), codename: Duchess Though he shows proficiency in stereotypical spy skills--weapons, driving, martial arts--his only real interest in the job is the opportunity to enjoy a jet-setting lifestyle full of sex, alcohol, thrills, lacrosse, fast cars and spy toys...

Love Notes

Love Notes
Please bring this DVD back. I have watched it several times on LMN and was never sucessful in finding it. Now I see it listed but you say it may never come back. Any ideas where else I might find it.

Cute Love Story
I love both main actors in this movie. They seem total opposites at the beginning, so you wonder how they will be compatible. Needless to say, there ends up being a lot of chemistry between them. The story line is a bit corny, but sweet. I won't give much away, but to say that after seeing it on TV, I wanted it for my collection.

Total chick flick - I love it!
Watched this on TV about two years ago and DVR'd it. Good music, good casting, watching it makes you just feel good!

Terrible inside of the dvd. Comes with 4 disc's and the disc holder (plastic in center) was literally in pieces inside the dvd box with the dvd's loose and rolling around. There is no way to keep the disc's in the middle. Nothing left for it to hold on to. I want another box, I am going to try to return this item. Never did this before from amazon.

Franklin: Franklin & The Green Knight

Gift from Grandma is a HIT with 2 year old!
My mom sent my daughter this video since she recently had a baby brother join our family and my mom thought our daughter would relate to this turtle. (In this video Franklin's mother is pregnant with a second child and Franklin has to deal with his excitement, fears and jealousy about that, and there are other nice lessons to learn in the video via the Green Knight story, too.) I doubted very much that she would "get" the connection and I don't know for sure whether she has or not, but this is now her number one favorite video, over the former standards Elmo and Bear in the Big Blue House! It is long, but she loves it and pays attention to the entire thing every time. I love the smiles on her face and her little chuckles as the story progresses; she truly loves the Franklin character. We've had it less than a month and she has watched it at least 15 times (and I really limit her daily dose of TV; she just picks this one everyday). Right now I'm shopping for another...

OK I am 12 and turning 13 next year ,but I can't get the songs like Brothers And Sisters .The movie is good even for kids my age I think the series is ok but yet the movie is fantastic. So if you have a 10 -12 year old who knows?Maybe they'll like it.Rent It that's all I'm saying .

My 4 1/2 year old LOVES it. The first day he watched it 5 times. Not bad for an austic child who dosen't sit still. Not for the very young because of the length (75 mins)Great songs and a wonderful message. For the older child who is going to be big brother or sister this is a great video to watch then talk about what it will be like to be that big brother/sister.

Enlightened: The Complete First Season

Surviving the Cut Season 2

What's the deal?
There's mixed messages in this page.

Surviving the Cut Season 2 had many episodes, as indicated by the 220 min. length of the advertised content. It could not be only one disc and it would certainly cost more than $11.

The series was almost as good as the first year, including two whole episodes devoted to SWCC boat crew training.

I hope Amazon or the producers cleans up this page with the correct information on the set. Until then I won't be ordering it.

Only one flaw.
It is a great DVD and makes you MADLY respect those who go beyond the spit and polish to defend the Freedom of the United States of America. However...

I must admit that I was SEVERELY disappointed that there was an episode from Season 2 missing from this DVD. The first episode, "Navy Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewman (Basic) was not on the DVD. That is most unlikable.

A tiny peek into the making of unsung heroes...
I am so very grateful there are persevering people like these dedicated to such grueling jobs! This is but an insignificant peek at what they go through to serve...

Only two of the episodes are really about SpongeBob and karate, but they are all about action and classics to watch! My boys love having them all on DVD to watch whenever they want because oddly enough SpongeBob Squarepants isn't on all the time.

Monstra City / Shut the Pup Up

A breakdown of the allegories used.
Everything is a very powerful reference to the arrival of communism and the state of the world after world war II. The gnome comes to power in the aftermath of attacks using the people's wish for safety as his "ticket" to steal their freedoms. In the section sung by the girls' father, he compares the people to cattle and there is an image of him cutting beef that has the images of money, homes and people on it as he sings that they've lost their dreams and ambitions. It ends with the people cheering on the girls the same as they cheered the gnome. This is showing that the people will celebrate any new regime that does away with the last regime, and are just as easily fooled by the new powers' promise of safety.

BabyFirst Shushybye Baby - Bedtime Stories and Songs

Not happy
I wish I could give this zero stars. Before Christmas, I ordered the shushybye baby songs and bedtime stories for my son. He was so happy. Seeing his excitement, I ordered this DVD. I got it today, played it and its the same DVD that I ordered before Christmas, just a different title. I thought with this having a 2013 copyright date, that it would be new episodes as baby first tv is advertising new episodes. I'm upset that I have 2 DVDs that are the same with different titles. I was hyping this DVD up to my son for nothing!!!!

Great DVD
My son is 13 month old and he loves shushybye. Every time he sees them he starts dancing. When he hurts himself I put a DVD of shushybye and it makes him happy. The best band for little ones.

Great for kids of all ages
My family loves the Shushybye characters and the songs. We tell people we watch it because the kids love it, but Momma and Daddy are probably more fond of the dvd than they are. The stories are shorter than we would like, but very cute. The kids like to dance to the songs and they love the colors of the set and props..

Gentle Pilates for Beginners with Eva Bondar

Helped my core!
What I really loved about this video was that when I was done, I was no longer slouching (at that time!) and my core felt so much better. I am a photographer and carry around pounds of equipment, there is nothing like this video in helping to strengthen those stomach muscles needed! I felt so much better after the video.

She gently guides you through the different poses! So it makes you feel stronger and is relaxing at the same time!!

Highly recommend this video!

great all over work out to feel fit and beat insomnia
This is a very inspiring professional work out video that leaves you feeling like you have given your entire body a tailored workout. It moves at an excellent pace and is easy to follow. Instead of dreading workouts, you will look forward to working out with Eva Bonder's workout video. An extra bonus is that if you do it before bedtime, it leaves you in a much more relaxed condition and helps to beat insomnia; you wake up more refreshed and fit too! Check it out!

Best Pilates!!!
I was originally turned on to this video by my mom, who raved about what a great Pilates DVD it was. I have gone through quite a few Pilates DVDs, and never found any I liked. That all changed with Eva's DVD. I love everything about this DVD- it is filmed in Maui, on the beach, so you get to hear the waves as you work out. Eva has such a gentle, pleasing way about her, it creates a wonderful space to be in. I used this video to help me come back from a time when I was very sick, and could barely breathe- by doing this DVD, I was able to focus on healing and getting stronger. Even on days when I tell myself I don't feel like working out, I get out Eva's DVD and I am right on track. The exercises are all do-able by a range of abilities, the setting is great, and Eva is a great instructor. I highly recommend this video!!!

Britten: The Turn of the Screw [Blu-ray]

One of the Best
Excellent voices, competent acting, imaginative production. Very satisfying execution of this interesting score. One of the best recordings of a Britten opera.

interesting new production of Turn of the Screw
I thought that the updating of the time period of the opera would lessen it's impact, but it doesn't.
All the singing actors were quite good.
If you like Britten, this is well worth adding to your collection.

Britten a standout in centennial year.
This performance from 2012 at Glyndebourne in England is simply superb!! Reset In the mid-20th century, the concept works beautifully and the performance is tops from all concerned-- performers and orchestra alike! Gorgeous presentation on a perfect Blu-ray.
